Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is an ancient art from that is known around the world as the art of ground fighting.  BJJ is a mixture of wrestling and submission techniques both in an offensive and defensive setting. The techniques and strategies implemented are based off the concept of using one’s own body as a weapon and leverage tool. Jiu Jitsu is a great means of SELF DEFENSE. A fundamental concept of BJJ is control. Traditionally, BJJ is taught with Gi (uniform) and no-gi (regular workout clothes).

BJJ with Gi, is more geared toward sports and competition. Pupils who train with Gi wear a belt that represents their knowledge and skill based off of a ranking system. The belts range from white, blue, purple, brown, and black. No-Gi is a style of BJJ that has been adapted to be implemented more so for the day to day lifestyle and self-defense. No-Gi BJJ applies much better to Mixed Martial Artists (MMA) and those who are looking to learn practical techniques that do not depend on using the Gi uniform.
